Susie Mae Williams was born on July 10, 1928 to Willie and Maebell Stevenson in Savoy, Mississippi where she was raised and attended school. She later relocated to Akron, Ohio and worked at the Ohio Edison building for many years until she retired. Susie enjoyed cooking, baking and taking care of her family. She was known to make the best sweet potato pies and always had her kitchen open to family and friends. She also had a love for gardening and an incredible green thumb that could grow anything. You could always find her either in her kitchen or out back in her garden. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her daughter and all of her grandchildren, they were her pride and joy. Susie was called home to be with the Lord on May 20, 2018 at Akron City Hospital.
She leaves to cherish her memory; her beloved daughter and caregiver Hazel Merritt; sisters, Vallie M. Thompson, Annie Earline (Gene) Adams, Loretta (Willie J.) Parker; brothers, Joe B. (Gina) Parker, Joe Willie Parker, Eddie Stevenson; grandchildren, Darnell Parker, Darrell (Tonette) Merritt, Rosetta Merritt; great grandchildren, Reshaunda Merritt, Darius Merritt, Dante Merritt, Reshanea Merritt, Requetta Merritt, Ra’Zhaunte Merritt, Darrail Parker, Trevor Parker; eleven great great grandchildren and many other extended family & friends.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Maebell Stevenson; father, Willie Parker; sisters, May T. Parker, Annie Parker; brothers, Willie J. Parker, George Parker, Tommy Lee Parker, Robert Parker, James Lee Parker; nephew, Willie Joe Parker; grandson, Demetrius Merritt; special friend, Mary Jones. She was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend and a grandmother of five generations. Susie will always be remembered for her endless kindness, loving heart and thoughtful manner. Her legacy will always live on.
