SHARONDA DENISE SMITH-RAMSEY

Sharonda Denise Smith-Ramsey was born on October 1, 1960 in Canton, Ohio.  She departed this life on June 2, 2019 after a brief illness. Sharonda confessed her belief in Christ at an early age and was baptized at Greater Bethel Apostolic Church in Canton, Ohio, by the late Bishop Ralph M. Byrd.  Sharonda found it a joy to sing in the youth choir and served faithfully until she began to travel.  Sharonda attended Canton South High School and went on to graduate from McKinley Senior High School in Canton, Ohio. After graduating, she attended Kent State University at Stark in pursuit of an associate degree in business.  Sharonda was employed at the Hoover Company in North Canton, Ohio for some years before meeting and marrying Timothy Ramsey.  Shortly thereafter, they relocated to Monmouth, NJ, where “Tim” fulfilled his military obligation. The union produced two sons, Quentin and Travis Ramsey.  At the end of their marriage union, Sharonda moved to Neptune, NJ where she began working at the local Newspaper – the Asbury Park Press.  It was during this period that she met and built a life with her lifelong partner of 25 years - Larry Daniels.  Upon retirement, Sharonda delighted in seasonal work at Monmouth Park Racetrack in Long Branch, New Jersey.  Sharonda was very proud of her family.  She was always so excited and happy when she was able to give us gifts of love.  She loved to tell jokes and often laughed heartily at her own jokes.  Her personality was infectious to all who encountered her. Sharonda had a “sweet tooth” and could never resist a piece of chocolate.  She also loved to watch CNN and MSNBC political news and critique the  politicians.  Above all, she loved the Lord, and was assured that after this life she had a place in His Kingdom.  Sharonda was preceded in death by her father Harold Freeman, Jr., her maternal grandparents, Walter and Ensie Curry, and fraternal grandparents, Adolphus and Augusta Smith.  She leaves to cherish with loving memories, her sons Quentin and Travis Ramsey of Long Island, NY; father, Calvin Smith of Canton, OH; mother, Annette Freeman of Canton, OH; sisters, Carmen (William) Young of Cincinnati, OH; Stacy (Elder Eric) Kelly of Canton, OH, Shala Freeman of Canton, OH, Trimel Smith of Canton, OH, Crystal (Calvin) Stalling of Atlanta, GA; loving partner, Larry Daniels of Asbury Park, NJ; nieces, Whitney Young, Kayla Freeman and Eden Twitty; nephews, Ryan Routt and Elliott Young and an abundance of uncles, aunts, cousins, and special friends.
