Raymond “Toe Joe” Truitt was born on March 22, 1949 in Canton, Ohio. He departed this earthly life on July 10, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center at the age of 69. He was a very happy and friendly person and loved by many. Raymond was a graduate of Canton McKinley High School where he was a member of the wrestling, football, and track teams. Raymond retired from the City of Canton after many years of employment.
Preceded in death by his mother, Christina Truitt; brothers, Larry “Whistle” Dowdy and John Truitt; and uncle, Guy Truitt. He leaves to cherish the mother of his children and former wife, Thelma Truitt; sons, Demetruis Truitt of Canton, Ohio and Byron (Sarah) Truitt of Fort Belvoir, Virginia; daughter, Karis (Kendrick) Ross of Columbia, South Carolina; grandchildren, Demetruis Bowers and Zharia Truitt of Canton, Ohio, Brandon Truitt of Elgin, South Carolina, Bryson Truitt and Sa’Ron Bell of Fort Belvoir, Virginia, Kendall Ross and Cedric Ross of Columbia, South Carolina, Kendrick Ross Jr. of Darlington, South Carolina, Akaylia Hines of Chester, Virginia; sisters, Norma Kilasi of Charlotte, North Carolina, Charlotte Truitt and Cheryl Truitt of Canton, Ohio, and Phyllis Truitt of Gary Indiana; brothers, Ralph (Marla) Truitt and Ronald Truitt of Canton, Ohio, Jimmy (Marsha) Martin of Marion, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
