Ralph Howard Cook, “Poppo” 70, passed away on May 27, 2017, after a lengthy illness. Born in Detroit, Michigan, he had lived and worked in Akron, Ohio, and resided in Canton, Ohio (Perry Township) since 1979. He was retired from AT&T after 30 years of service, and also worked at Pittsburgh Plate and Glass. He served in the U.S. Army. He is preceded in death by his father, James Howard Cook; brother, Dallas Cook; mother, Emery Cook. Ralph is survived by his wife of 40 years, Meilani Cook; sons, James H. Cook Jr., Marietta, GA, and Marlon C. Cook (partner Heidi Ball), Canton, OH; daughters, Alisa R. (Christopher) Ross, Acworth, GA and Melissa M. (Karim) Elamraoui, Canton, OH; sister, Sharon (William, deceased) Cook-Jones, Akron, OH; brother, Gerald (DeLisa) Cook, Decatur, GA; brother-in-law, Clifford Harris II, Moore, OK; sister-in-law, Yolanda Mitchell, Las Vegas, NV; brother-in-law, Terry (Luellen) Eggleston, El Cerrito, CA; special niece, Lashawn Armour, Akron, OH; special nephew, Curtis Cook, Akron, OH; 7 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and a host of other relatives and friends.
