Prophetess Shirley E. Henderson, born June 17, 1949, and a long-time resident of Canton, Ohio, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 3, 2019. Shirley Henderson professed at a young age that Jesus Christ was her Lord and Savior. She attended God’s Way Christian Church, pastored by Apostle Gilbert Carter and graduated with honors from God's Way Bible College. She was later ordained as both a prophetess and an apostle. In 2000, Prophetess Shirley Henderson began co-pastoring, alongside her husband, Henry L. Henderson Jr., Gospel Temple Christian Fellowship of Canton, Ohio. One of her favorite chapters in the Bible is Psalm 91 and she strived to be a good and faithful servant of the Lord. Her accomplishments include, graduating from Timken High School as well as attending Rutgers University for three years. After she returned to Canton, Ohio, she worked for the United States Postal Service and retired as the postmaster of Navarre, Ohio. She offered her body as a living sacrifice in service to the Lord and through servicing the community.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Hazel King-Lewis and Lloyd Bell. She is survived by her husband, Henry L. Henderson Jr. whom she loved greatly and joined in holy matrimony June 27th, 1981. She is also survived by her children, Evangelia Jackson, Anastasia Jackson-Priester and Kimberly Smith; grandchildren, Ebone Jackson, Jeremiah Jackson, Elijah Jackson, Malcolm Jackson-Pop, Bithiah Jackson-Thigpen and Christian Smith; great grandchildren, Jeremiah Jackson Jr., Josiah Jackson and Ariah Jackson; her siblings, Sessley Finn, Barbarba Brooks, Leon Carter, Corliss Carter, Gloria Hodges, and Violet Porter.
