OCTAVIA HOBDY-BOOKER Obituary

Octavia "Tay" Lauren Hobdy-Booker, was born on March 26, 1989 in Akron, Ohio. Tay departed this earthly life suddenly on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 in Fort Campbell, KY. Octavia was baptized at a young age becoming a member of The House Of The Lord. She was an active participant in the pioneer Girls. Octavia attended the Akron Public Schools System, graduating from Firestone High School 2007. While at Firestone, Tay excelled in sports, particiapating in AAU Basketball (Blue Angels), Track and Volleyball. After high School Octavia took time to travel and have fun before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 2009. She was a "proud soldier" and worked herself up to the rank of Spec E-4, specializing in Army Logistics. She completed two tours of duty in South Korea at Camps Humphrey and Stanley. Octavia was Honorably Discharged in 2016 after 7 years of service. She was currently attending Daymar College in Clarksville, Tennessee working towards a B.A. Degree in Business Management. Octavia would have graduated in Spring, 2019. On May 4, 2012 Octavia united in marriage with her friend, love and fellow soldier Gregory D. Booker. To this union two sons were born, Taylin L.D. and Gregory D. Jr. who were the joys of her life! Tay wore many hats as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, soldier and friend. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. Octavia suddenly earned her heavenly wings on Tuesday, October 2, 2018. She was preceded in death by her father, Oscar Baltimore; grandfathers, Douglas Hobdy Sr. and Freddie Person; grandmother, Della Baltimore; grandparents-in-law, Thomas and Hessie Blalock; cousin, Leonta Hobdy and nephew, Arik Smith. She leaves to cherish her loving memory, husband, Gregory D. Booker; two sons, Taylin L.D. and Gregory D. Jr.; mother, Gaile Hodby; father and mother-in-law, Jessie and Debbie Booker; sisters, Richetta (Joe), Jernika Clark, Asia Hobdy, Nyree Bates, Shaunelle and Kelly Baltimore; sister-inlaw, Jessica Booker; favorite uncle, Douglas (Stephanie) Hobdy Jr.; special dad, Sam Pryer; grandmother, Margaret Person; grandmother-in-law, Georgia T. Booker; Godfather, Jeff Ludle; along with special mom, Renee Benson-Ludle; Godmother, Lauren Humphrey- Sommerville and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.Procession will form and condolences may be sent to at 1238 McKinley Ave., Akron, Ohio 44306.
