Maccelius C. Massey 51 of Canton, Ohio went home to be with the Lord after a brief illness. Max was born August 2, 1966 to James and Joyce Massey of Canton, Ohio. Max was preceded in death by his father James “Dick” Massey, brother Leon “Guy” Massey, sister Vanessa LeVert, and sister in law Josalyn Massey. Max was a very loving and helpful person. Max lived in Colorado for 8 years and worked as an apartment manager before moving back home. He loved working on homes, cars, and spending time with his family. He was always cracking jokes and being silly. He made up a signature “tickle” with a song. We all knew when he put that crooked finger up, it was time to run. He gave a lot of his older nieces and nephews a “funny” nickname that they will definitely cherish forever. Max is survived by his loving Mother Joyce Massey-Allen, aunts, Donna Massey and Pearla (Mack) McClendon, uncle, William (Nadine) Massey, six brothers, James Massey Sr., Preston Massey Sr., Charles (Gloria) Massey, Michael Massey Sr., William Massey Sr., and Patrick (Lisa) Allen all of Canton. Three sisters, Shenetha Wright, Sonya Freeman, and Joy Massey all of Canton. Special sons, Brian Sharpe of Minerva, George Sharpe of Alliance, Gregory Sharpe of Canton, Jeffrey Sharpe of Hartville, and Bert Sharpe, friend, Eric (Becky) Street of Carrollton, nieces, Keva “Weeble Wobble”(Shon) Moore, Katisha “Pocky” Massey, Myka “Boo Bae” Massey, Virginia “Pinky” Massey, Erica “Aunsky Bell” Massey, Shaeo’monte (Vince) Gatlin, Kaitlin Massey, and Yahnisha Steel all of Canton, nephews, Donte Massey Sr. of Malvern, Deray “Bread” Massey of Alliance, James R. Massey Jr., James O. Massey Sr., Jeremy “Worm” Massey, Leon “June Bug” Massey Jr., Deon Massey, Chavez Massey, Shawn “Boomp” Massey, William Massey Jr., Ga’Quinn Massey, Amarion Massey, Morgan Massey, Michael Massey Jr., Joshua Massey, Vodrick Freeman Sr., Corey Sullivan Sr., Preston Massey Jr., Amarion Massey, Morgan Massey, Adriauna Hofacre, Makala Hofacre, and Kashmae Hofacre all of Canton, cousins, great nieces, nephews, and great-great nephew, Dae’John Pritchard. Max will be dearly missed by the entire Massey family and friends.
