Mable L. Gordon left her earthly choir to sing in the Lord’s heavenly choir on June 07, 2018. Born in Canton, Ohio on June 11, 1931, Mable has been a pillar in the community for all her 86 years.
Baptized at an early age, she loved the Lord and continued to serve Him through song. Mable never met a stranger, she always greeted you with a hug and smile. Mable was one of the first African American secretaries at Babcock and Wilcox (B &W) Research in Alliance, Ohio, where she worked for over 20 years. After retirement from B & W, she became the office manager for ICAN and worked with Elizabeth Lenzy at Northwest Health Service Providers.
Mable was a member of Shiloh Baptist church for over 60 years where she served as president of the Mission Board and past president of the Shiloh Choir. Mable loved to sing, and at the age of 80 recorded a CD of songs which included several written by her.
Preceded in death by her parents, Robert E. Bolds, Sr., Mary E. Clayton, and brother Robert E. Bolds, Jr., she leaves to cherish her memory: her brother Larry Clayton of Canton, Ohio; children Gerald R. Bolds, (Jesse) of Canton, Deborah L. Gordon of Hudson, Ohio, Henry A. Gordon Jr. of Canton, and Sheila E. Thompson of Massillon; fifteen grandchildren, thirty-six great grand-children, thirty-six great–great grand-children and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Also, to cherish her memory, Margaret and Raymond Booker and Jennell Freeman, her spiritual sisters and brother.
