I can speak to the pain of a hurting mother, who I have come to call Mom and love dearly. I can speak to the pain of a hurting family, but I like to speak to you at this moment, Lisa. It's been how long since I've last seen you and it's now another one of life's lessons learned. You are gone and I don't get to say, "Bye." Or joke with you. Or WAIT-FOR-IT because I know it's coming for you to ask to borrow $3 that you knew you weren't paying back. Those moments, although routine, are what make us into who we are. You lived your life accordingly and I just say thank you for reminding me of that. Thank you for reminding me that I should do better and take time with my in-laws and not just out of necessity. I can keep talking, but now you can only communicate in spirit. Therefore, I say, "I love you." Maybe something I never conveyed directly to you. I won't believe it's too late to tell you now that you have departed this life. I will believe in my soul that it is another reminder to say it to the aching hearts you have left behind.
