LENORA SMITH Obituary

Lenora Kay Smith was born on February 13, 1957 to Vernon Allen Tuck and Ernestine Tuck in Canton, Ohio. Lenora departed this life and answered the Father’s call on April 14, 2019 surrounded by loving family. She was preceded in death by her father and her brother, Mark Tuck Sr. Lenora was joined in holy matrimony with her husband of 32 years, Edward Smith on July 18, 1986.

Lenora attended Canton City Schools and was a proud graduate of Canton McKinley High School. Shortly after high school, she was employed at the Hoover Company in North Canton, Ohio for nineteen years. She also received an Associate’s Degree of Applied Business in Legal Assisting from Stark State College in North Canton which led to an office manager and legal assistant position at the Law Office of Corey Minor Smith.  Most recently she was employed with Cedar Elementary within the Canton City Schools until her passing.

Lenora accepted Christ as her personal savior at a young age and was a dedicated active long time member at The Word of God Community Church under Pastor Dr. David L. Kinlow II. She served as a member of the Hospitality and Bereavement ministries and was always willing to help out in any capacity as needed.

Lenora was so full of life and joy that she never allowed her asthma condition to stop her from caring for her family and living life to its fullest. Her life was a testament of her favorite scripture, Philippians 4:13 which reads, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Lenora had a genuine heart of gold and would give anyone the shirt off of her back without a second thought as attested by her family and friends.  She would brighten up any room she entered with her fabulous smile, quick wit and charm. Because of Lenora’s love of fashion, she was also easily known as a fashionista to all who knew her. Early in life, she often was featured in many fashion shows sponsored by various entrepreneurs such as Chris Smith, Willie Paul and Sylvester ‘Sly’ Grant to name a few. She also had a passion for interior design, event planning, traveling, scrap booking, watching westerns such as Gun Smoke and Bonanza and was even a member of the Sisters of Soul line dancing team. Lenora also had a great love for the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Cavaliers!

She leaves to cherish her memories, husband, Edward L. Smith; three children, Starla D. Tuck (Canton, OH), Eddie Miller (Cincinnati, OH) and Bryson J.A. Smith (Columbus, OH); mother, Ernestine Tuck (Columbus, OH); two grandchildren, Noah G. Tuck (Canton, OH) and Braylin E. Smith (Columbus, OH); five siblings, Vernelda Brown (Canton, OH), Deborah Tuck (Canton, OH), Jovona ‘Jody’ Tuck (Columbus, OH), Vernon Allen ‘Al’ Tuck, Jr. (Dallas, TX) and Michael Tuck (Columbus, OH); and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
