Joseph “Joe” Ronald Lemon born December 25, 1921, died peacefully on September 14, 2018 at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. He is the son of the late Moses and Anna Lemon.
Joe Lemon served with United States Military in the late 1930’s that includes surviving the World War II from September 1, 1939 thru September 24, 1945 and the Korean War June 25, 1950 thru July 27, 1953. After the war, he moved his wife Hattie Elizabeth (Dallie) Lemon to Ohio to start his family. They were married for 42 years until the passing of his wife on September 19, 1988. Joe was a member of St. James AME Zion, Massillon, Ohio and was in the Mass and Men’s Choir. Joe Lemon was a family man that enjoyed fishing, carpentry and playing chess/checkers.
Joe was the last living sibling of eight. In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by his brothers, Roosevelt Lemon, George Lemon, Sr., Peter Lemon, Frank Lemon, Willie Lemon; (2) sisters, Georgiabelle Thompson and Pearl Anderson. He is survived by (4) sons, Donald Herring, Davey Lemon(Darolyn), Alan Lemon (LaShawn), Theo Lemon(Gwen); (3) daughters, Joanna Lemon, Connie McNair and Melvina (Teresa) Stanton. He is also survived by (14) grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
