Johnson “Joe” Jackson, passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on March 1, 2019. He was born on July 11, 1929 in Forkland, Alabama to the late Cato and Laura (Redrick) Jackson. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He loved sports but baseball was his favorite. Joe retired from Hercules White Engines. On September 26, 1980, he married his beautiful wife Dorothy Watson. Joe was a family man and he loved his family dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph Hill and John Henry Lawson; sister, Lucrecia Jackson; sister-in-laws, Hattie Torrence. Katherine Gadsyn, and Mary Jackson; brother-in-law, Frank Armstead; grandchildren, Constance Dillon and Timothy Bruce.
Joe leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 39 years, Dorothy Jackson; daughters, Pauly Washington of Cincinatti, Ohio, Sygrid (Rick) Maxwell, Mary “Dean” Bruce both of Chicago, Illinois, and Doretha (Ace) Gillems, (1) brother, Rufus Jackson both of Canton, Ohio; (1) sister, Ovetta Armstead of Forkland, Alabama; sister-in-laws, Irene Hill of Detroit, Michigan, Geraldine Gillespie, Stacia (Dave) Thompson, and Sylvia Watson all of Canton, Ohio, Lula B. Smith of Canton, Ohio ; (1) brother-in-law, Rudy (Amelia) Watson of Baltimore, Massachusetts, Richard Torrence of Canton, Ohio ; (18) grandchildren, (40) great--grandchildren, and (22) great-great grandchildren who he loved dearly, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
