Isaiah was born August 25, 1930 in Birmingham, Alabama to the now deceased Dick and Mattie (Floyd) Boykin. He attended Birmingham Public Schools, and accepted Christ at an early age at the First Baptist Church Mountain Park.
After serving in the US Army from May 21, 1950 to May 20, 1953 he lived in California for a while and then moved to Detriot, Michigan where he worked for one of the major auto manufacturers before moving to Akron, Ohio where he met and married the late Annie Belle Thomas on October 4 , 1958. Annie Belle had one daughter, Eliza Belle, who he raised as his own.
Isaiah was well known as Ike or Mr. Ike. Work was never a problem for him. He worked as a truck driver for a furniture company for many years before getting a job at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, from where he eventually retired. During the time he was working for Goodyear, around 1974, he opened the first of many car washes he owned over the years.
Isaiah was preceded in death by parents Dick and Mattie Boykin; wife Annie Belle; brothers, George Boykins, Alex Boykins and William C. Boykin; sisters, Bertha M.
