Donna Jean “Polly” Martin was born December 1, 1930 in Canton, Ohio to the union of the late Horace and Agatha Martin. She was the second oldest of eleven children. Donna gained her wings on January 14, 2020.
Polly was baptized at Peoples Baptist Church at an early age. She attended Market Elementary School and graduated from McKinley High School in 1948. She later went on to attend Wilkens Beauty School in Cleveland, where she earned her cosmetology license. Polly retired from the Hoover Company after 28 years of service.
She was united in marriage to the late Eugene Still and to this union 2 children were born; Ronna and Eugene Jr. (Butch).
She was preceded in death by her second husband, Walter Martin; son, Eugene Still, Jr. siblings Donald, Horace, Dwayne Martin, Shirley Ransom, and Abdul Ali.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories; her daughter Ronna (Donald) Edwards. Her siblings, Sherman (Barbara), Phillip (Rosie Lee), Paul (Janet) Martin, and Brenda (Caldwell) Graves. 7 Grandsons; Eugene Still, Shawn (Ronica) McElroy, Lorenzo (Tekita) Still, Antonio Still, and Jerimiah McElroy, Marcus (Angela) Edwards, and Brian (Christian) Edwards. One granddaughter, Shannon Hill. 43 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends to celebrate her life.
Polly was the matriarch of the family. She was always there to listen, help, and support her loved ones. Her home was the “gathering place” for many family events. Polly had a sense of style in all aspects of her life. Polly was a fashion diva who enjoyed wearing leopard print. She enjoyed reading Architecturalmagazines that inspired her to decorate her home with black art, oriental décor, and a collector of collective shoes. Polly was a member of Red Chapeau Divas, a Chapter of the Red Hat Society, and of OASIS (Older Adults Still in Service) a retiree group at Union Baptist Church.
