Deacon James Charles Williams went home to with the Lord after an extended illness on May 11, 2018. James affectionately known as “Sonny” was born on August 7, 1929 in Barberton, Ohio to the late J.C. and Lucy Williams. James served his country from 1951 to 1953 in the United States Army and worked at the Seiberling Plant in Barberton, Ohio for 30 years, retiring in 1980. James was saved at an early age and was a member of Living for Christ Ministries, where he served as a Deacon. James loved the Cleveland Cavaliers, especially his LeBron James. James also loved his Cleveland Indians, Tiger Woods and Venus and Serena Williams. James was also a big fan of…. You guessed it, Oprah Winfrey! He was a great cook and loved calling people shoobies and pie factories. Preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lucy Williams, Lillie Williams, Thelma Glass, and Lucinda Watkins; brothers, Robert Williams and Rudolph Williams. James leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Leslie Renea Flunoy of Barberton; mother of his only child, Lorraine R. Palmer of Barberton; brother, Sam Williams of Akron, Ohio; special niece, Denise Davis; great-niece, Candice Sams; special friend, Sherry DuBose and god-daughter, Vette DuBose; god-grandson, Douglas DuBose and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
