Carol Anne Kennedy was called home to be with the Lord on July 2, 2019. She was born to the union of the late Shelley Lipkins and Annabelle (Lipkins) Smoots on August 21, 1935 in Canton, Ohio. She attended Canton Public Schools and graduated from McKinley High School. She pursued a career in the Nursing field and graduated from Kent State University. Upon graduation she was hired in at Aultman Hospital where she became the first black nurse ever hired in 1959.
She met the love of her life and married George Kennedy, and of that union two handsome sons were born; George Kennedy, Jr. and Michael Kennedy. Carol accepted Christ at an early age, and was baptized by the late Elder Robert McMurray. She attended Greater Bethel Apostolic Church under the Pastorate of the late Bishop Ralph Byrd and continued under the Pastorate of District Elder Carlos Morris until she was unable to attend on a regular basis. She sang with the Greater Bethel Reunion choir and she was on the Nurses Guild.
Preceding her home going were her parents, Shelley Lipkins and Annabelle (Lipkins) Smoots; her husband, George Kennedy; her two sons, George and Michael Kennedy; brothers, Dwayne, Shelly, Samuel, Elijah, Woody, Jimmy, Eddie, Jerry and Etheridge as well as (1) sister, Javelyn.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory (3) grandsons, Aramis, Antjuan and Caleb. She also leaves her daughter in law, Sybil Kennedy and (10) great-grand children; her surviving sister, Lucinda Bridges, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives and friends.
