Michael Anthony Elkins, affectionately known as “Cat” was born April 24, 1963 in Barberton, Ohio to his parents Muriel Elkins and Roosevelt McKinnie. He was raised and lived in Barberton until he decided to reside in Akron, Ohio. He attended Arnold Elementary School and UL Light Jr. High School. He graduated from Barberton High School in 1981. Michael loved the sports of boxing, basketball, and football. In pursuing that love, he became a very good athlete. While in High School he “Broke the Curse” when he scored the final and winning touchdown that won the bell back against Massillon High School. As he continued to carry the torch for the game of football he became an avid Pittsburgh Steelers Fan. Michael worked in the industrial field for over twenty years. He currently worked at Hamlin Newco LLC. His favorite way to pass the time was to spend countless hours with the people he loved, hanging out with his lifelong friends, and having a good time. Cat was laid back, kind spirited and always willing to help someone in need. He was preceded in death by his parents; Muriel Elkins and Roosevelt Mckinnie. He is survived by his loving children; Cassandra Cupp, of Barberton, Ohio. Tyeisha Elkins, Michael Elkins, and Tatyanna Elkins all of Akron, Ohio. Grandchildren; Jordan Clark, Jayciere Cupp, and Jacoby Cupp, all of Barberton, Ohio. Makai Elkins, Makhari Harris, and Ella Cheatham all of Akron, Ohio. Sisters; Carolyn Elkins of Barberton, Ohio; Melody (Mike) Brennan of Houston, TX; Ramona (Mark) Tolliver, Debra (Mike) Cheatham and Rosalee Walton. Brothers; Levail (Valerie) Mckinnie, Rovail (The late Tina) Mckinnie; and Larry (Alfreda) Jennings.
