Ella Lue Evans was born July 11, 1941, in Demopolis, Alabama, the eldest daughter of Joseph Jr and Lue Ella Gaiters, whom she cherished until their passing. She moved to Akron, Oh at a young age, where she was educated in the Akron Public School system.
She is preceded in death by her parents Joseph Jr and Lue Ella Gaiters,
Walter Evans (son), Charlie, Joseph III, Elbridge Gaiters (brothers). Bryant Lee Gates Jr., Chanel Unique Gates, Kyrie Shakur Smith, Jerry Jerome Davis III (grandchildren).
Ella Lue leaves to celebrate her victory in Jesus Christ her children Monroe Jr, Priscilla Boutte, Wilbert (Dearest), Lue Ella Prince, Juanita (Elias) Gichana, Anthony and Dora Evans. Sisters Viola Woolridge, Amelia Gaiters and Sister in-law Catherine Gaiters. She is cherished by 21 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 6 great great-grandchildren. She also leaves many other family members and friends to continue this life's journey.
Ella Lue was a strong and faithful disciple of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who taught her children and grandchildren the importance of faith, church attendance and participation. Once a housekeeper, who later pursued her passion for caring for the sick and shut-in, she received her nursing certificate from Med-Cert Training Center in Akron, Ohio, all while raising her eight children. She is most remembered for her love of the Lord and her compassion toward all she met. Her life in Christ included membership and works of service, serving on the usher board, the Sick and Shut-In Committee and The Order of the Eastern Star (OES). She was dedicated to helping uplift those who were unable to attend church or participate in activities due to various reasons. She was known for using her beautiful voice singing in the church choir and blessing all of her grandchildren serenading them with the lyrics to a Bushel and A Peck and on Birthdays you could look forward to her spiritual voice singing Happy Birthday to you. In her later years, she joined Mount Olive Baptist Church, Pastor William. C. Bunton, where she was a member until her passing. She loved her church community and took pride in extending a warm smile toward all she met.
She retired from Community Support Services (CSS) in the 2000’s. At the time of retirement, she supervised a team of individuals responsible for cleaning City offices, the last one being the Oliver Ocasek Building, in Akron Ohio. She was a dedicated employee who took pride in her work and was often rewarded and acknowledged for her dedication and work ethic.
In life, Ella Lue was a very soft-spoken woman, who used her words wisely and filled the room with her contagious Gold tooth smile and laughter. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She had a great love for family fun and was often found creating unbelievable seven letter words during Scrabble, which would make you question the validity, only to look them up and discover they were actual words. She was gentle and loving, but she could play a game of Bid-Whist with the best of them. Mom was a wonderful cook with some of our favorite requests being collard greens, tuna noodle casserole, peach cobbler etc. You could often visit her midday and catch her watching her favorite Soap Opera “The Young and the Restless.”
Ella Lue will always be remembered for her caring and nurturing spirit, her love for the Lord, and her family. She was never too sick to bring another healing and comfort, never too busy to devote time to someone else, including her nieces and nephews, whom she loved as her own. We couldn’t have asked for a better parent, and will miss her warm, beautiful, Gold tooth infectious smile daily.
