Willie Carroll, age 78, of Massillon, Ohio transitioned from this life on February 3, 2017, at peace surrounded by his Great Lakes Hospice/Legends Care Center family following a short illness. He was born February 27, 1938 in Alabama to Washington Carroll, Sr. and Hattie Bell Carroll. He lived most of his adult life in Massillon. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, four brothers, Johnnie, Arnell, James and Wash Jr., and one sister, Pleasie.  He leaves to remember his life, two sisters, Lubertha (Charles) Mills of Statesville, NC, and Alberta (Felix) Brown of Bartow, FL; nephews, nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.  In Willie’s younger years he was in a singing group with his siblings and one friend called the “Family 5” which included Wash, Jr., Lubertha, Pleasie, Idell McCall and him. They used to sing in church and around town. Willie also  enjoyed working in apple orchards in Florida and Buffalo, NY and Vincent’s Car Care in Massillon, OH.  Willie C, as most people called him, enjoyed watching the Young and the Restless, the Bold and the Beautiful, Jerry Springer and he loved westerns and wrestling. His favorite foods were fried chicken with hot sauce, pound cake and peach cobbler. Willie C loved drinking Pepsi and snacking on Kit Kats, Paydays and Snickers. His favorite singing group was the Mighty Clouds of Joy. Willie was not big on words but he greeted everyone with a “FIST” and a huge smile ….that was his way of showing you that he liked you and if he did not give you the “FIST” or smile……then that meant that you better go the other way.
