Vera Jean Kelley was born on March 24, 1919. She went home to be with the Lord on June 6, 2016. Vera was a life-long member of Asbury Chapel A.M.E. Church, where she was a faithful warrior until her health began to decline. Vera loved to sing and praise the Lord. She sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. She was an outstanding steward and served as President of the Pastor’s Aide for many years. Vera was preceded in death by her husband Ervin Kelley; parents, Richard and Rosa Henderson, (11) brothers, (4) sisters, and (2) infant grandchildren. Vera leaves to cherish her loving memory her daughter Delores J. Henderson of Canton, Ohio; grandson, Roy “Chip” Henderson of Ravenna, Ohio; Georgeann “Gigi” McCrary of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; brothers, Richard Henderson of Amsterdam, Ohio, Donald Henderson (Thelma) of Jacksonville, North Carolina and (3) great- grandchildren; god-daughter, Jamesetta “Cookie” Leathers. Vera is also survived by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to give a special acknowledgement to Vera’s niece Mary Jane Ward for her advocacy, dedication and support throughout Vera’s convalescence and hospice care.
