Mother Willa Jane Carlis, 96, transcended peacefully in her sleep into God’s loving arms. Born on August 29, 1920 to her natural parents, Marie and Essie Beverly, in Pulaski, Virginia. Being the oldest of sixteen children she started her journey full of love for her family. She was a dedicated employee at Aultman Hospital with sixteen years of service retiring from there and going to work for Timken Mercy Hospital for seven years she retired in 1985. Being baptized in Jesus name and receiving the Holy Ghost at an early age. Worked for the Lord for over forty years at the Greater Bethel Apostolic Church in canton, Ohio. As a devoted member, Women’s Missionary, the nurses guild, and a mother of the church. Serving God as a mighty warrior is where she got her strength! She was always doing the Lord’s work. Mother is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Carlis; and her first husband, Melvin L. Browns Sr.; three sons, Ronald, Robert and Richard Brown; one daughter, Patricia Brown Chaney; parents, Essie and Marie Beverly; eight brothers, Sylvester, Walter, David, Essie, Richard, Robert, Melvin, John Beverly. Also, three sisters, Clara Beverly Grant, Elizabeth Beverly Edwards and Marie Beverly Gibson. Mother leaves to cherish her legacy, one son Bishop Melvin L. and Rosalee Brown; her daughter of the home, Alice Jane Franks (Janie); also of the home grandsons, Ronnie Franks, Lucas Sr. and Lucas Howard Jr.; fourteen grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren and twenty-three great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephew’s other relatives and friends. She will continually be known as a true Saint in our lives and all who knew her.
