Mitchell Watkins Sr. went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 22, 2016. He was born in Meridianville, Alabama in Madison County on January 11, 1933 to Harry Sr. and Madeline Watkins.  He was a graduate of Timken Vocational High School where he studied welding.  After graduation, Mitchell joined the U.S. Navy and fought in the Korean War.  He served his country for 4 years.
In 1954, he married Doris Bush from Canton, Ohio and they moved to Washington DC.  To that union was born three loving children; Mitchell Jr., Marcus and Lisa. 
Following an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Navy, Mitchell worked at the National Institution of Health as a Supervisor in the Central Heating, Ventilation, and Cooling Systems Department.
Mitchell loved to bowl, enjoyed writing poetry and was a serious sports fan. He loved the Washington Redskins and enjoyed watching baseball and playing basketball and volleyball.  He had a great sense of humor, a contagious laugh, and simply loved life. 
 Following his divorce and retirement, Mitchell returned to Canton, Ohio where he met Ms. Pearl Tuck who became a loving and devoted companion.
Preceding him in death are his parents; brothers Charles Watkins, John Watkins and Harry Watkins Jr.; sister, Wanda Fowler. 
Those who will miss him most are his three children Mitchell Jr. and Lisa Michele Watkins of Baltimore, MD, Marcus Angelo of Los     Angeles, California; brother, Joe Watkins of Dayton, Ohio; sisters, Paralee Compton of Canton, Ohio and Mary Elizabeth (Marshall) Barnes of Columbus, Ohio; devoted companion, Pearl Tuck of        Canton, Ohio and a host of nieces and nephews and cousins.
