Michael was born on September 12, 1958 to Hattie Matthews, Russell McLaughlin (Surragate) Micheal McPhatter Sr. While attended Westbury High School. Michael played LaCrosse winning many awards. He attended Boise and majored in Horticulture. Upon graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army for 1 year receiving Honorable discharge afterwards he enlisted into the Marine Corp. He loved being a marine. He attended to Leavenworth, KS majoring in culinary arts receiving certification. Michael worked as a chef at Mt. St Joseph College, The University of Cincinnati and Xavier University in Cincinnati while raising his children. Michael is preceded in death by his mother and father, Hattie Matthews and Russell McLaughlin; sister, Anne Sally; Godmother, Helen Meyers. Michael leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife, Barbara; sons, Ryan and Cameron; daughter, Mercedes; 11 grandchildren; and a host of many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 
I would like to give a special thank you for helping us keep it all together to my nieces, Samantha Brown and Diamond Floyd, my Goddaughters, Monique Sales, Amber Moreland, and my sisters, Kymberli Davis and Carmen Brown.
