Ludie Frank Evans Lancaster made her transition to be with the Lord September 20th, 2016. Mother Lancaster was born February 8th, 1918 to the late Robert B. and Mary Lenar Evans in Hartford, Ct. Mother Ludie received her formal education in the Hartford, Ct school district. Mother Lancaster was saved at a very young age and served the Lord faithfully. She worked diligently in the church serving in various capacities and wore many hats literally and figuratively. In 1939 when her father was appointed a church in Mansfield, Oh, she served as teacher of the junior sewing circle and served on the finance committee.  In 1944 she followed her parents to Canton, Oh and attended Northeast Church of God In Christ (now known as God    Given) from 1949 -1972 where Flanders Gillems was Pastor. During this time, she served as a Sunday School teacher, president of the Bible Band and Mother’s Board, secretary. In 1972 she became a member of Mt Zion COGIC where she served under Pastor Ellis Blackford and later Pastor William C. Terry. Under the leadership of Pastor Terry she was appointed to various offices and auxiliaries.  Mother Lancaster was appointed as District Missionary by Bishop R. S. Fields to the Ebenezer District (now known as the U.E. Miller District under the leaderships of Superintendent Robert Williams and Superintendent Ace Gillems respectively, and served faithfully for over 20 years. In 1950 she was appointed as National Program Chairlady of the National Youth Department by Bishop O.T. Jones Sr. In 1976 she was appointed to the special projects committee of the National Hospitality committee of the Church of God In Christ. On March 29th, 1946 Mother Ludie married the love of her life Rufus J. Lancaster. To this union was born Lena Rufene and Kenneth Stephen Lancaster. Mother Lancaster conducted revivals all over the country and many were saved, healed, and delivered. She was a great student and teacher of God’s Word. She loved to pray and could often be heard praying in her sleep. Mother Lancaster was featured in the Canton Repository and also wrote a column for the paper  titled “Smile you’re on God’s camera.” She was preceded in death by her loving husband, parents, brothers Jerry, Bill, Melvin, and Robert Evans, two sisters Mother Rebekah Gorham, and Mother Maggie Sewell.  She leaves to cherish her memory, her baby brother, Lawrence (Jean) Evans, her beloved daughter Lena R (Pastor Walter B.) Williams and loving son Elder        Kenneth (Christine) Lancaster.  Four grandchildren, Radia (Brian) Lewis, Julius (Ashanti) Lancaster, Walter B. (Koyama) Williams II, and Tasa’Mara Williams. Eight great-grandchildren and three special grandchildren, Devon, Devoe, and Danielle Torrence.  Special niece Evangelist Karen R. Bowen, Columbus, Oh, special nephew Pastor Walter Gorham, New Jersey, NY, Special Great niece, Dr. Alyncia Bowen, Special Godchildren Linda K. Patterson and George Clinkscales Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews and loved ones.
