Leroy Smith Sr., 81, was born on May 12, 1936. He returned home to be with the Lord on July 10, 2017.
As a young man, Leroy spent time in the US Army where he was honorably discharged.
In 1954 he was known as the "knockout king" defeating all his foes.
Leroy Smith was rated as the cities leading candidate for the 1955 Golden Glove Honors.
Leroy attended various schools and became a skilled certified mechanic. He also was one of the sharpest pool players in the area, shooting with various pool leagues throughout Northeast Ohio with some leading to championships.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding motorcycles and touch many lives by fixing peoples cars, which he loved to do. He also was a member of the Gate of Heaven Church, where he gave his life to the Lord.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Callie Smith-Arrington, father, Eulic Smith and brother, Larry Arrington .
Leroy leaves to cherish his memory his children Gloria (Johnnie) Johnston, Patricia Minor, Leroy (Lisa) Smith, Jr., Romie D. Smith, Richard, April and Victoria Keller, James and Brian Ballard, Tony and Portia Baugh, Tanisha Thompson, Monica Belser, Karen Smith, Terrius Ross and Serenity Thomas; siblings, Mary (Scott) Christian, Eulic (Ruby) Smith, Mary Lou Robinson, Joanne (Aster) Patterson, William (Sonny) Catlin; his former wife and close faithful friend, Fannie Eva Mae Smith as well as a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great friends.
