John Allen Wilkins Jr., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 17, 2017, after a long bout with cancer. He was born on March 4, 1948 in Giessen, Germany to the union of Berthena Jordan and John Allen Wilkins Sr. who was a lieutenant in the U.S. Army. 
John Allen graduated from The University of Akron, with a degree in sales & marketing. He worked at Ace Rubber Company for 16 years, then sold real estate at Robert Strecker Reality. He was a security guard, while also a clerk at Sears Men’s Department, for a time worked at Circle K and retired from Henry’s Acme after 14 years of dedicated service. John was the “strong silent type” like “superman” he hardly ever talked unless it was about the Cleveland Browns and or comic books. John is preceded in death by his parents, and brother. John leaves to rejoice his HomeGoing his devoted wife, Cindea who lovingly called him J. Allen, they were wed for 22 years. Sad to see him go are his 3 sisters-in-law, Doris, Delia and LaTisha Kirven-Carr and father-in-law, Percy Weldon Carr all residing in Akron, Ohio where John Allen spent the last 69 years in Laurel, MS he leaves 2 brothers-in-law, Charles Husband and Ricky (Latressia) Thames; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Home Going celebration will take place on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 12 p.m. at Rhoden Memorial Home 1101 Palmetto Ave., Akron, Ohio 44306. Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of service. Minister Michael Starks, officiating. Procession will form and condolences may be sent to 1754 Summit Lake Blvd, Akron, Ohio 44314.
