Doris Loretta (Layton) Spencer, age 82, 0f Canton, Ohio passed away on Friday, April 29, 2016. She was born in Columbus, Mississippi, September 19, 1933 and was the daughter of the late Willie J. and Minnie F. (Powell) Layton. Loretta was a graduate of McKinley High School class of 1954, and retired from Superior Switchboard. She was a long time member of Peoples Baptist Church and a faithful Bible study student. Loretta captured the heart of William W. Spencer and they were united in Holy Matrimony on September 27, 1969. Loretta was a kind person with a generous heart, a great love for all children, a beautiful smile, a fashionable dresser, matched from head to toe. She enjoyed reading, cooking, shopping and walking at the mall. Loretta loved to have fun, and she shared precious moments with family and lifelong friends; Rita M. (Nelson) Barrett, Margaret (Gainer) Johnson, Margaret (Jones) Ware, Hattie (Henry) Tramell, Evergreen (Johnson) Williams and foster sister Jacqueline (Evans) Jones to name a few. She leaves to cherish her memories; husband, William W. Spencer; loving and devoted sister, Willa (Sweet) Williams of North Canton, Ohio; step-daughter, Mae Jean Williams of Rienzi, Miss.; step-grandchildren, Brandon Clark, Damer and Kylee Williams of Booneville, Miss.; and Triance Williams II of Corinth, Miss.; aunts, Sarah Powell of Moreno Valley, Calif., Lillian Powell of Canton, Ohio; sister-in-law, Armatha Boothe of Kirkwood, Mo., brothers-in-law, Hershel and Roosevelt Spencer of Booneville, Miss., Bobby Spencer of Charleston, Mo., as well as a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, extended families and her walking buddies at the mall.
