David Michael Fentress was born June 18, 1952 in Canton, Ohio and departed this life on April 9, 2018 at Cleveland Clinic. He was baptized at an early age, where he was nurtured at Mt. Calvary Second Baptist Church during his formative years. Later in life he united St. Paul AME Church where he served on the Trustee Board and the Men’s Club of St. Paul’s. He was educated in the Canton City Schools and graduate from McKinley Senior High School. He attended Stark State College, completing certification in Steam Plant Operations and additional course work in Automotive Mechanics. David was united in Holy Matrimony on June 18, 1983, to Marie Antoinette Davis, and to this union two sons were born, Jarvis and Keenan Fentress. David was a member of THE FRONTIERS INTERNATIONAL; A 15 year Amateur Basketball Player for the Timken Company Canton Industrial, Mt.Calvary Church and YMCA Leagues. David was inducted into the greater Stark County Amateur Basketball Association Hall of Fame May 2017. David was preceded in death by his parents, William Paul Fentress, Sr., Mose and Margaret Hogsett; father and mother-in-law, Webb and Willie David; brothers, William Paul Fentress, Jr., James Fentress; sister-in-law, Cora Davis Hawthorne. His Legacy will live on through loving memories held by those whom he loved his loving wife of 35 years; sons, Jarvis and Keenan; sisters, Helen (Lamar) Stewart, Janice (James) Hubbard, Patty Johnson, Doris Massey all of Canton, Ohio; brothers, Cornell Fentress, Raymond (Madeline) Hogsett, Robert Hogsett all of Canton, Ohio, Anthony Hogsett of Warner Robbins, Georgia, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
